Safe lockouts
Safes lock people out for a handful of common reasons: a forgotten or lost combination, a dead keypad battery, a failed electronic lock, a lost key, or a bolt mechanism that's jammed. Some of these are quick fixes. A dead battery, for example, can often be solved through an external battery contact. Others take more time and skill.
The right way to open a safe depends on its make, model, lock type and security rating. When you call, tell us the brand, roughly how big it is, whether the lock is a dial, keypad or key, and what happened. That helps us bring the right tools and give you a realistic idea of what's involved.
We verify ownership
We open safes only for their owners or someone with legal authority, such as the executor of an estate or a new homeowner with closing documents. Expect us to ask for ID and proof that the safe, or the property it's in, belongs to you. We take this seriously because the contents of a safe are exactly what people trust it to protect.
Estate and inherited safes
Safes found in a newly purchased home, or left behind when a relative passes, are common, and nobody knows the combination. We can help with these too. Have the paperwork showing you own the property or are handling the estate.
Combination and lock changes
If you can open your safe but someone who shouldn't knows the combination, have it changed. Many dial and electronic locks can be reset, and a worn or failing lock can often be replaced with a new mechanical or electronic lock.
Safe installation
A safe that isn't anchored can be carried out of the house. We help position safes and bolt them to the floor where the safe and the floor allow it, so a burglar can't simply walk off with it. Before you buy, think about the fire rating, the burglary rating, the inside dimensions you actually need, and whether your floor and doorways can handle the weight.
Frequently asked questions
I forgot my safe combination. Can you open it?
In many cases, yes. Call us with the brand, the lock type (dial, keypad or key) and what happened. We'll verify ownership before opening any safe.
My electronic safe keypad is dead. What should I do?
Many keypads can be powered through an external battery contact. If that doesn't work, or the lock itself has failed, we can help.
Can you open a safe that came with a house I bought?
Yes, with proof that you own the property, such as closing documents along with your ID.
Will you bolt my safe to the floor?
Where the safe and the floor allow it, yes. Anchoring is one of the best ways to keep a safe from being carried off.
