Getting you back in
Most residential lockouts are handled by picking or bypassing the lock with professional tools, so in most cases your existing lock keeps working afterward. Drilling is a last resort. We use it only when a lock is high-security, broken or jammed, and we'll explain why before we do it.
Who we help
- Homeowners locked out after the door closed behind them.
- Renters in apartments and duplexes. If your landlord or property manager has a lockout policy, we can work with them.
- People locked out of a garage, shed, gate or storage unit they're authorized to open.
- Property managers who need into a vacant unit between tenants.
We'll ask for proof of residence
Before we open a home, we'll ask for something that shows you live there or have the right to enter, like a photo ID with the address, a lease, mail or a utility bill. If your ID is inside, we can often check it once the door is open. Expect us to be careful here. It's what keeps your own home from being opened for a stranger.
Lost keys? Consider a rekey
If you got locked out because the keys are lost, not just left inside, think about who might find them. A lost key ring with an address tag, a stolen purse, or a car break-in that took a garage opener are all good reasons to rekey your locks while we're already there. Rekeying changes the lock so old keys stop working, without replacing the hardware.
Avoid the next lockout
- Leave a spare with someone you trust nearby rather than under the mat.
- Consider a keypad or smart deadbolt so a code gets you in when the key doesn't. We can install one.
- If a lock is getting hard to turn, have it serviced before it fails with you on the wrong side of the door.
Frequently asked questions
Will you have to drill my lock?
Usually not. Most home lockouts are opened by picking or bypassing the lock, so it keeps working afterward. We drill only when there's no other good option, and we'll tell you before we do.
What do I need to show to get into my home?
Something showing you live there or are authorized to enter, like a photo ID with the address, a lease, or mail. If your ID is inside, we can usually verify it after opening the door.
Can you open an apartment if I'm a renter?
Yes, as long as you can show you live there. Some properties have their own lockout rules, so you may want to let your property manager know too.
Are you available in the middle of the night?
Yes. We're open 24/7, every day of the year.
