What happens when you call
When you call (417) 590-3870, we'll ask a few quick questions: where you are, the year, make and model of the vehicle, and whether anyone or anything is locked inside. If a child or pet is locked in a hot or cold car, call 911 first. Emergency responders can act faster than anyone else. Then call us.
Once we know the vehicle, we drive to you with the right tools for it. Most modern car lockouts are handled with professional lockout tools, such as air wedges and long-reach tools, that open the door through the frame gap. We don't use the old slim jim on late-model cars, because it can damage the wiring and airbag components inside the door.
Vehicles we open
We handle lockouts on everyday cars, pickups, SUVs and vans across Springfield and the surrounding towns. That includes cars with push-button start where the fob is sitting in the cupholder, trucks with the keys in a locked toolbox or cab, and trunk lockouts where the keys went in with the groceries. If you're not sure we can open your vehicle, call and tell us what it is. We'll give you a straight answer.
Proving the vehicle is yours
Expect us to ask for a photo ID and something that ties you to the vehicle, like the registration or insurance card, once the door is open. It's quick, and it protects you. A locksmith who will open any car for anyone without asking is a locksmith who will open your car for someone else.
Lost the key, not just locked it in?
If the key is gone, not just locked inside, opening the door is only half the job. We can also make and program a replacement key on site for many vehicles. See our car key replacement page, or just tell us on the phone so we can bring the right blanks and equipment.
Tips while you wait
- Check every door and the rear hatch. It sounds obvious, but it's often the fix.
- If someone has a spare key and is close by, that may be quicker than any locksmith.
- Stay somewhere safe and well lit, especially at night or along a busy road like Glenstone, Kearney or I-44.
- Keep your phone on so we can reach you when we're close.
Frequently asked questions
Will opening my car damage it?
We use professional lockout tools designed to open vehicles without damaging the door, paint or weatherstripping. We avoid slim jims on modern vehicles because of the wiring and airbag parts inside the door.
Can you get my keys out of a locked trunk?
Usually, yes. On many vehicles we can open a door and use the interior trunk release or fold-down seats. Tell us the year, make and model when you call so we can plan for it.
Do you come out at night or on weekends?
Yes. Master Locksmith Services is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
How much does a car lockout cost?
It depends on the vehicle, location and time of day. Call (417) 590-3870 and we'll give you a quote before we head out.
